Another book I've recently read that had a female character that was awful.

Rachel was a mother and a teacher, but my gosh, she came across as really pathetic. A self-absorbed, deluded, woman who came across more as an infatuated teenager than the mother/teacher she was supposed to be.

Mia, her teenage daughter, behaved in a more appropriate manner than she did! Seriously there were times when I wanted to reach into the book and give Rachel a good shake.

The oppressiveness of the heat really came across, so that was well written. However, the switching back and forth between the current storyline and the flashbacks was confusing. I wonder if the font for the flashbacks might be different in the actual physical copy of the book, but I read a digital copy and it didn't come across in there.

Thank you to Pigeonhole and Hazel Barkworth for the chance to read this book.
