Partway through it got rather preachy and God-heavy, which I did not enjoy.

Such a sweet and adorable story. This book feels very nostalgic to me, as I remember watching the movie when I was younger.
I love the character of Heidi. Although she is almost “too perfect” in her attitude and behavior all the time, she really embodies a childlike wonder and joy and faith - which is refreshing for any adult weary of the burdens of life. There is real beauty and goodness and truth, and the Lord really does take care of us in the best way.
Although it's slow moving at times, I really enjoyed this classic!
I loved Heidi as a child. I just discovered this gorgeous version that is part of the Penguin in Bloom collection!! And... I had to buy it. Can't wait to get it and re-read this for the first time in at least 15 years.
