Miss Maryann Fitzwilliam is too witty and bookish for her own good. No gentleman of the ton will marry her, so her parents arrange for her to wed a man old enough to be her father. But Maryann is ready to use those wits to turn herself into a sinful wallflower.
When the scandal sheet reports a sighting of Nicolas St. Ives, the Marquess of Rothbury, climbing out the chamber windows of a house party, Maryann does the unthinkable. She anonymously claims that the bedchamber belonged to none other than Miss Fitzwilliam, tarnishing her own reputation—and chances of the dastardly union her family secured for her. Now she just needs to convince the marquess to keep his silence.
Turns out Nicolas allows for the scandal to perpetuate for his own reasons… But when Maryann’s parents hold fast to their arranged marriage plan, it’ll take a scandal of epic proportions for these two to get out of this together.

5/5
That was so good?? Oh my god?? I hated the first book but this one was EXCELLENT. sure, it wasn't perfect and for the writing I would have given it like 3.5, but the vibes??? 5/5, no notes.
Nicholas's arc was so sad and full of anguish and revenge. I love how much he cared for Arianna and how he got revenge in her name. Her story was horrible and I'm glad that the men responsible were punished - though I'm disappointed that the wolf wasn't punished most severely.
But Nicholas's love to Maryann was amazing. HE BROKE THE ARM OF RHE MAN EHO BRUISED HER. HE STALKED HER TO MAKE SURE SHE WAS SAFE. I LOVE HIM.
Maryann was great too! Her willingness to be wicked and her trust in him was great. I love how much she loved Nicolas, but even when she believed him to be in love with someone else, she didn't resent him and just wanted him to be happy.
Their story was so sweet but also tragic (aka her brother is still an asshole but I'm glad Arianna forgave him and found happiness with him? I guess?). The spicy scenes were awesome. I love them!
