Hold You Against Me
Hold You Against Me
This book included the prequel, which was a little confusing, because while I am reading, I am thinking to myself, I feel like I've read this. Hrm... So skip ahead, and voila, it turns out I was right! Anyways. I thought the timeline with Gio was weird, ie we weren't really given one. In the beginning of the book, we pick up right after the events of [book:Tough Love 25089619], Then, in the next chapter, we are propelled years forward. Although, perhaps that may have more to do with not reading the entire series, but I was more interested with what happened with Gio, than the rest of the characters. This book didnt make me cringe as much as [book:Love the Way You Lie 33294221], but there were still some things that I didn't like. The kidnapping, the drugs, the forced marriage. Why did a certain someone have to enjoy spanking Clara? What did that add to the story? That was just gross. And, the sex! While I wanted to freaking CHEER that Gio held onto his v-card, there was no condom talk! WHYYYYYYYYYY!!! I wish it didn't make me so mad. But, its just not believable. Gio has given Clara no reason to trust him, and frankly, Clara has not really given Gio any reasons to trust her. They are not in a situation conducive to a trusting, loving relationship, you would think they would just want to be safe. Nope. Anyways, the rest of this book read like a typical mafia-takeover romance. Gio is not mafia royalty, he is the son of a foot soldier, so there is some friction when he got his position. I don't really think this book was all that memorable. And wow, can we talk about how Kit and Honor from book 1 are married and have a baby? Think he's nicer to her now?
