When it comes to love, hex marks the spot in this enchanting romance that will delight fans of Practical Magic and The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches. . .
Delia Merriweather does not believe in magic. But she does believe in family, and her family happens to identify as witches. Their lack of magic doesn’t dampen this heartfelt belief, because according to lore and legend, they’re hexed. Convenient? Yes. True? Probably not.
Thanks to a weird birthmark, the eccentric circle of Merriweather women believe that Delia is their blue witch. In other words, she’s supposedly the person capable of restoring magic to the Coven Merriweather.
However,
A) magic isn’t real, and
B) the spell is truly horrific and illegal in all fifty states.
Who’s going to boil a baby, for crying out loud?
So, they’re all completely blown away when Delia accidentally breaks the hex (sans baby-boiling obviously). Chaos and mayhem ensue, drawing the attention of the invisible witching world. And that includes the sexy, brooding, and excessively irritable Max Halifax who has recently moved in next door to settle his uncle’s estate.
Just when Max thinks he’s done with his endless tour of duty—keeping an eye on the bumbling Merriweather women—he discovers Delia Merriweather has somehow broken the hex placed by his great-great grandfather. He worries that beneath the Merriweathers’ seemingly harmless antics, lies the very real possibility that this gaggle of clueless witches will somehow stumble into their power and, like their ancestors, threaten to rule the witching world by controlling the hearts of men. Maybe it’s even starting already. Because Max’s heart beats erratically whenever Delia Merriweather is around.

Hot Hex Boyfriend - Carly Bloom
The Merriweather's are the town joke.. They believe they are witches that have lost their powers through a hex and Delia is the bluemoon witch born to break the curse... No one is more surprised when she accidentally does break it and all the family power is unleashed.
Max is there settling his uncle's estate but as a witch himself, he helps the family try and learn to control their powers. Trouble is, he can't seem to stay away from Delia and the reason they were hexed in the first place, makes Max wonder if the things he is feeling are even real.
I found this book delightfully entertaining. The characters were all expertly written and I loved getting to know them all so much! It was like I found my coven!! It was funny and quirky with so much warmth it was the perfect cozy paranormal romance to start the spooky off with a bang! I loved Nikki!! He was hilarious! If we get a spin off, I need it to be on him!
Excellent book! Excellent narration.

For a book that's marketed as that “a witch breaks a hex and gains magic”, I'm disappointed that there was no breaking hex until 48% of the book, and gaining magic until 60% of the book. I mean seriously, half of the book was mostly just exposition. I was expecting something else whatsoever, but tbh, I liked this book anyway.
It was cute and nice and I vibed with it. It's a cozy read for Halloween and I recommend this book.
Delia was quirky and fun, and Max was broody and stoic - until he wasn't. I loved how much he liked Delia from the start, despite the fact that he shouldn't, but when he accepted it, he didn't let anything stand in their way. I understand Delia's freak out about accidentally bewitching him, and I'm somehow glad that she wasn't angry about the role he played in everything since the beginning.
The background characters were fun too. I love how Luc embraced life in the village, and how Amy wanted more, and the Merryweather witches who were so excited to find out the truth. But my favourite one was Nikki. He was amazing, fun, well-written, mysterious and just great. I loved him.
The ending was a surprise but an interesting one! It kept me on my toes and I did shed a tear. The book was great and I thoroughly enjoyed it. hope that the author will continue to write books in this universe - I would love to read stories about Amy, Luc, and Nikki. And to revisit Delia and Max, of course.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the digital ARC of this book in exchange fir my honest opinion.
