Why?

I might attempt this book again at a later date (in other words, when I'm in a better mood) but right now I cannot take the coddling and the heavy protagonist centered morality I'm having to deal with. (Oh, gee, none here can do any wrong. ... And Amber probably needs to be slapped, TBH, with my feelings from her from the last book.)

The fact is, it is a huge difference between what Amber usually does (quickly scan past innocent minds to find the one that is interested in/has hurt people) and what she's doing now (doing a deep dive into an innocent mind that is already frightened and panicking with her team encouraging - nay, demanding that this innocent is treated like a suspect). Telepathy already skirts morality. This is just terrible.
