I told myself I don't like contemporary romance. I told myself I don't like sports romance. I am a fucking liar. After seeing Tori from a Novel Life on YouTube absolutely RAVE about this book, I told myself I had to at least give it a good try. I didn't even need to give it a good try, this book took me captive from the first chapter.
We begin following Riley who has moved into a new apartment after transferring to a new school to find she living across the hall from rowdy hockey players, who just so happen to be from the school team her dad coaches. One of these very hockey player is Aasher, who is tasked with the unfortunate job of “babysitting” Riley by her father aka his coach. The main job being make sure those hockey hands stay off of her. This job get incredibly harder when an ice bet is made to see who can fuck the coaches daughter first.
All that happens within the first 3 chapters and god was it so gripping. A rivalry brews between the two of them but after one night and a confession, lines get blurry. Instead, Aasher finds himself doing anything to help Riley be the women she left at the other college. Be aware that there is talks of eating disorders and sexual assault.
SO SO good. I can't say much more but I loved this. The forbidden aspects were perfect, tension was perfect. I could genuinely feel the love blossoming through the pages.
