To be home for Christmas, they must bridge the distance between them. Charlie Yates is desperate. It's almost Christmas and his flight home from college has been delayed. For days. Charlie promised his little sister Ava he'd be home for her first holiday season since going into remission from leukemia. Now he's stuck on the opposite coast and someone else grabbed the last rental car. Someone he hasn't even spoken to in four years. Someone who broke his heart. Gavin Bloomberg's childhood friendship with Charlie ended overnight after a day of stolen kisses. With years of resentment between them, they don't want to be in the same room together, let alone a car. But for Ava's sake, Gavin agrees to share the rental and drive across the country together. As they face unexpected bumps along the road, can Charlie and Gavin pave the way to a future together?

New Adult is usually not my thing but this was highly recommended and I was on a Christmas/Holiday read extravaganza and I'm glad I made room for it.
Charlie Yates is nobody's doormat and when right before the beginning of the school year (9th grade) new kid in town, new bff, new crush dumps him Charlie proceeds to to live his high school life outwardly unconcerned by the in-crowd and later health issues with his little sister make all that not even matter. Fast forward to college and his first trip back home from California to Connecticut, flight-cancelling-storms and having to share a cross country ride with aforementioned dumper Gavin Bloomberg. Needless to say sparks fly, truths are revealed and horny college boys get it on. YES.
I particularly liked that contrary to what you would expect Gavin is the eager bottom with more than one or two kinky requests.
Although these two are young they're smart, thoughtful and open to learn and really that is all you can ask from anyone. That road trip back to college will be full of fun ;-)

More like a four stars upon reread.
Honestly, I can see why I didn't love this book the first time around. There's several tropes in here that I am not a fan of (friends to enemies to lovers with maybe a couple extra stops along the way, and both boys epically screwing up when they were younger, and, honestly, the way too much sex) but, I actually really liked both Charlie and Gavin. They are flawed people that made mistakes and that never stopped wanting each other.
