So first off I was gutted to find the fantastically illustrated / decorated version of the book on the authors website after I read the basic text version I downloaded free from Smashwords. The few illustrated chapters I downloaded are amazing, and illustrate the story really well. Given the option, go to the website and download from there!
The story is great too. It reads well, but is full of context and learning too. I know very little about the Maya Indian culture, but the content seems well researched and authentic. There are a lot of good subtle threads through this book - the chapter naming, the ancestor stories which form each alternate chapter and their tie in with the narrative.
If i knew how to put pictures into a review I would stick some in! Haha success, well sort of, controlling image size and proportion appears to require skills. The pages are decorated all the way around, but they were too big, so here are some corner illustrations.
