What can I say sigh. This was a big slice of your favorite indulgence. It was a Cinderella story via “Pretty Woman” and a little Rapunzel thrown in for good measure but I was so in the mood for a low angst love filled plush pillow that I loved the bones off of this. The truth is [a:Tara Lain 4541791 Tara Lain https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1378857623p2/4541791.jpg] had me with Clancy and Yerby the rest of the story was just icing. LOL (They are cats.)If you can give reality a wide berth you'll enjoy this story of “two fine people” outwardly opposites in every way who find each other and in Billy's case himself and complement one another. There are a few bumps on the road but no blood on the tracks and sometimes that's the kind of sweet story a soul needs.I'm not usually one for fem boys but Shaz is just too fabulous to resist and Billy is every hero you could dream up. They are surrounded by a great cast of supporting characters, my favorite being Rupert a.k.a Ru. We all need a best friend like him.I know there are two more books in this series but going by reviews from friends on GB I don't know that I want to read them and ruin the perfect bubble that is Billy & Shaz. What I would pay good money to see is the story of Rhonda & Mitch. My curiosity is more than piqued by these two and though tricky it could be a great story.*** Most of this story was audio for me and [a:K.C. Kelly 2748905 K.C. His voices for different characters were spot on and I'm sure enhanced the story and so one of the stars is for him.
Cute feel good story, quite touching at times. The sex scenes read more like comedy.
This was a difficult book to review and even rate, so I just let it sit so long that I forgot when I even read it. The fact is, it's sweet for the most part, with a guy just discovering his sexuality. I love the dichotomy of these two guys together because at first glance you wouldn't think they'd fit. But they do.
However, the reason this did not get four stars like it probably would have, was because of the cheating. There is not cheating on the main couple, but one of them is dating someone that is cheating on him and he cheats back - with the other in the couple. Okay, that's complicated, so, here's the breakdown without names, but full of probable spoilers.
Guy A and Guy B are the endgame couple. At the beginning of the story, Guy A is dating Guy C. Guy C is cheating on Guy A with Guy D - who is engaged to marry Guy B's sister (Girl A). Guy A cheats on Guy C with Guy B.Apparently, Guy A knew Guy C was cheating on him and ... didn't really care except for the knowledge that that meant he could cheat back. Girl A knew her fiance was cheating on her with Guy C and didn't really care because she knew Guy D would - eventually - choose her over Guy C.
Now, I'm okay with open relationships - but that's not what these were. These were cheaters, flat out and I'm not okay with cheating or, what feels like, trying to normalize it. So...yeah. Good story, cheating nearly made me stop reading it.
