David Gemmell has always impressed with his ability to write strong lines and he continues in that vein with Knights... The concept is pretty simple but the execution is memorable. Each character has his own set of inner demons and the ability to rise above their station. In fact David defines each character so well that the reader may feel cheated that enough time is not spent on each. In that sense, this book could probably have been written as a two part novel. But in the end its a fine read if a bit philosophical.
