Honestly, this book made me angry more than anything else.
Grayson was such a wonderful, deep character that to make him simply have to die to wake his useless twin up was a shame. Especially since I totally shipped Grayson and Chelle and thought theirs was without a doubt the best romance in the book. And while Grayson's character grew by leaps and bounds over the course of the trilogy, Chelle's character was such a treat to watch loosen up.
Ingrid is even more useless in this book than the last two - until the I am god moment she gets where she's all power. I hate her. And Luc...don't even get me started on him. Their romance scenes were supposed to be all swoony but I'm over there drumming my fingers impatiently, waiting for the weak girl and the ‘I'm just so cool bad boy with a tragic past' to get the hell off the page. And the ending...COPOUT! Maybe if Luc hadn't been pardoned because his wonderful love for Ingrid made him a better person, maybe then I could have tolerated the ending. After all, that's not a ‘and they lived happily ever after' but a ‘well, they're happy for now but she'll age and die and he won't.' That would have been kind of cool and very gutsy. As it is... COPOUT!
Which brings me to Gabby. I love Gabby, but I don't believe she could have found a more controlling boyfriend if she tried. If I had to read a variation of ‘you can't do that, lass' coming from Nolan one more time, I would have screamed!
Vander, who I loved in the first two books and would have totally ran away with had I been in the story, turned into...honestly, I'm not sure what he turned into. It was like ‘oops, Vander has too many fans, let's make him demanding and demeaning and not at all the total sweetheart he was in the first two books because if we do, too many people will be unhappy that Ingrid obviously wants Luc more'. Speaking of, the hell is ‘I want Vander but I want Luc more?' At least the early scenes between Vander and Grayson made me happy.
