I think this is good for teens/young adults that have a good foundation already to build upon. I can't really imagine a middle schooler reading this? This is probably mature teen to young adult area.
It will not go into explaining how sex is performed but more on the relationships, boundaries, and identity. It's a great read and I would recommend it for people who are interested in physical relationships.
I also like the representation and found it really inclusive.
I think some may not enjoy the light story type telling, but I think it is effective for others. It is a non-fiction but it is a different presentation that regular non-fic. It's pretty causal and sex positive, which is good but not everyone has had positive experience. It really doesn't cover trauma or those who have had negative outlook, so a heads up.
Even though maybe it doesn't cover everything well, it does touch on several subjects that I'm sure will inspire more research and self-searching for teens to follow up on!
I've read some problematic things about the author/husband relationship. Which they are, but I found it hard to find a timeline to those older posts (like 2009ish maybe?) So, i'm not sure if there are more recent events or if this was just a non-great take and since then they've learned more and improved....so if anyone knows, like let me know!
