There is something to be said for wanting to read a certain type of book and then reading it. Mostly, the thing to be said is: it works really well. Besides being perfect for me at the time I read it, this book has so many good point. Let's see a list, shall we.
+ Quirky non-human police precinct (that features one of my favorite things ever - a bunch of misfits)
+ Asking for consent before sex (it's distressing how happy this makes me, because it should be the norm)
+ Bi character that's had to deal with crap for being bi (because it happens, but he finally has someone that doesn't care)
+ Main character that says stupid things and doesn't always usually ever have a witty comeback (though he tries)
+ Sex that doesn't suffer from ‘penetration is the only real sex' syndrome (and that isn't so frequent that I get bored and figure that the only chemistry they have is bedroom chemistry)
+ No proclamations of love, - yet - just a steadily building relationship (though the second book in the series continues these guy's story (with the added benefit of sounding like we switch narrators - which will be AWESOME))
*Edited to change rating from 4 to 5 because my only complaint (that this was exclusively told from Kyle's perspective, was neatly dealt with in the sequel that was exclusively Kash's.)
