Melissa Grace has done it again!
“Long Way Home” is the third installment in the Midnight in Dallas series. Although each book can be read on its own, they are all interconnected so you get the most out of it by reading the other books.
I'll be honest, I didn't follow that. I picked up the first book, “Home Is Where You Are” on Kindle Unlimited shortly after receiving the eARC from the author (btw thank you Melissa for this ARC-this review is completely honest and in no way effects my rating). I had a great time reading the first book and meant to pick up the second, but life got ahead of me so I skipped right to this third book.
Having read the first one, I immediately fell back into the world and the characters. I definitely missed some exciting plot points from the second, but was quickly brought up to speed in “Long Way Home.”
“Long Way Home” follows Derek Knights, a band member in the famous group, Midnight in Dallas. While dealing with some life altering news and decisions, he stumbles across Jo Kingsley. Jo's life was turned completely upside down after a series of unfortunate events, so she returns to her home town of Nashville to reevaluate her life. From there, the two spiral head first into a relationship and navigate their new lives together. Plus, there's an adorable dog, Izzie, who made the story so much fun.
Melissa Grace is the queen of insta-love relationships and butterfly inducing men. Although the third act conflict was cliche and I wish I got more of a view into the beginning weeks of Derek and Jo's relationship, this was still a fun read. I loved Jo's character development and felt Derek was the perfect match for her. It was exciting to be emerged into this world again and I can't wait to see what else Melissa Grace has to create.
Thank you again to the author for a copy of the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
