LOVE, STARGIRL picks up a year after Stargirl ends and reveals the new life of the beloved character who moved away so suddenly at the end of Stargirl. The novel takes the form of "the world's longest letter," in diary form, going from date to date through a little more than a year's time. In her writing, Stargirl mixes memories of her bittersweet time in Mica, Arizona, with involvements with new people in her life.In Love, Stargirl, we hear the voice of Stargirl herself as she reflects on time, life, Leo, and - of course - love. From the Hardcover edition.

I loved it, just as I loved [b:Stargirl 22232 Stargirl Jerry Spinelli http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1195088561s/22232.jpg 963221], but for one thing that got in my way:I do not like Dootsie Pringle.I think I, the reader, am supposed to like her, to be charmed by her. But she's often unpleasant, needy, pushy, and selfish. The phrase that kept coming to mind was “need machine”.
Susan Caraway aka stargirl is a unique human being who takes on the challenges of the world in a different point of view. Her relationships with naature and self-cleansing, her love for her ex-boyfriend Leo and her nosiness makes her annoying, weird but eventually lovable to everyone whose crossed her path. In this book, Stargirl writes unsent letters to Leo about how she feels about him, and also about the new friends she's made such as her new best friend, a 6 year old girl named Dootsie and an agoraphobic beauty named Betty Lou. A possible new crush named Perry Delloplane whose tough/bad boy image really softens as you learn more about him and his struggles[and his many girlfriends he can't commit to]. Stargirl helps people become more worthy of themselves, and reminds others that they are not forgotten when they are left alone in this world. Shes not like ANYONE i've ever met in my life. But this book is really good because you won't really find someone like her especially in a city like New York; and its just good to read about people who makes an impact on others in the smallest or biggest way possible.
Just as amazing as the first! Jerry Spinelli is truly a master.
I throughly enjoyed the new cast of characters that found their way into Stargirl's life in this book! From tiny Dootsie to the infamous Perry, I loved them all. It was refreshing to read things from Stargirl's point of view for a change, to see how she was affected by Leo.
Once again what I love most about this book is just how true Stargirl is to herself. Yes, she goes through moments where she questions who she is, but she always finds her way back to her true self. Not afraid to be odd, not afraid to be different, not even afraid to be unpopular. Her attitude and passion shine off of the pages.
I recommended the first of these books to everyone I knew, and they will hear about this one as well! Leo and Stargirl forever!
