I absolutely loved this story!
With a few minor changes, Lucia could have been
my mom.

A compelling theme to me in a story is an
exploration of what could have been.
Lucia, Lucia is a story that touches on that theme.
Lucia is the most beautiful girl in
Greenwich Village and the only daughter
in an Italian Catholic family. She longs
to be a career woman yet she also loves
the close ties of her family. The book
begins with Lucia as an elderly woman,
telling the story of her life to a young neighbor.
What will happen to Lucia? Will she choose to
marry the handsome young Italian boy next door
or will she pick the suave rising business man?
The end of the book left me in tears; I'm a sap
for lost chances and missed opportunities.
Much better than any of the Stone Gap books;
I recommend this book.
