Stop everything, relax with a cup of tea, and settle back into Hard Pan. I smiled after the first paragraph because I was happy to be back in Lucky's world and Susan Patron's voice. But the book stands alone too. Lucky is eleven now and she's got all the emotional roller coaster, the impulses and regrets, and the tiny and enormous anxieties that go along with eleven. I hate to say “heartwarming,” because it's so overused, but yeah. It is. Smile.
