Inspired by the story of Mae Jemison, the first African American woman in space. When little Mae was a child, she dreamed of dancing in space. She imagined herself surrounded by billions of stars, floating, gliding, and discovering.

I read Mae Among the Stars and Game Changers, the story of Venus and Serena Williams at the same time, and I feel like Game Changers is way better. Both books are biographies of African American women who became extremely successful in their careers. Game Changers introduces their challenges, their struggles and all that it took to become who they are, while Mae Among the Stars stays on the surface. There is a lot of repetition of the mantra “If you can dream it, if you believe it, and work hard for it, anything is possible”, which is great one, but it doesn't explain to the reader what it took to Mae Jemison to become the first African American woman in space.
