Kim, a young street waif disguised as a boy, takes up with traveling magician Mairelon and his coachman Hunch after she is paid to search Mairelon's wagon and is caught in the act. She agrees to travel with Mairelon, help with his staging, learn some real magic, and eventually assist in unravelling the story of the Saltesh Set, a magical array of silverware that Mairelon has been falsely accused of stealing.

Quite immersing, and gripping. Loved the conversations and the difference of language between the classes. Kim was quite a feminist for her time and a very strong character. Mairelon, even though he was the second most important role in the story, wasn't as materialized as I would have liked. I wish the story was longer and we could have a view point from his side as well. A little more description of the appearance of the main characters would be nice as well. But most of all I wish there was more romance, angst and confused emotions between the protagonists. The conclusion of their relationship was a bit of hurried in the end, but I understand that in general the plot was well balanced what for all the events that happened and the whole sherlock holmes and agatha christie theme. Overall a great book where all the things I mentioned above are additions I would wish to see so I could experience the characters more fully, because I loved them.
