Mayday Mayday Mayday!

1.5 stars. The idea of talking negatively about this does make me feel bad, as I'm sure the author invested a lot of hard work and time into this. However I just really didn't like this bl. The last 2-3 chapters slightly redeemed it, so my feelings aren't completely bitter at least (hence the +0.5 star added to my rating).

The good: CHRIS. He was such a loveable character who really deserved more screentime. He was so supportive and whenever he appeared on screen it made me really happy. I also like how the topic of Yuno getting raped wasn't brushed off lightly, which I was initially afraid of happening. In the second to last chapter or so (not really a spoiler), Vasya even mentions/takes into consideration the possiblity of Yuno having trauma from his rape, WHICH WAS SO REFRESHING TO HEAR. Speaking of which, Yuno's rapist (his cousin) gets the fate he deserves, with his life essentially ruined. I won't say how for the sake of avoiding spoilers, but even though I actually wanted him dead, seeing his downfall was incredibly satisfying.

The not so good: I hated how Vasya's toxic tendencies were portrayed. He is so incredibly possessive at times, so much so that he even harms Yuno's close friend out of jealousy, yet there are no repercussions to this? Yuno doesn't even so much as discuss it with Vasya. Usually when there's a character in a relationship with toxic tendencies, I expect him/her/them to either get a good redemption or for the readers to get some sort of explanation for why they act the way they act—whether that be past trauma or whatnot. That won't justify the actions but it will give context to the characters' decisions and make them more understandable and nuanced. But no, Vasya's only reasoning for being so possessive was “oh I have feelings for him no one can touch him he only belongs to me” blah blah blah. Like HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO JUST ACCEPT THAT WITHOUT THERE BEING ANY FURTHER DISCUSSIONS ON THIS? WHAT THE HELL? NO! DON'T GIVE THEM A HAPPY ENDING WITHOUT TACKLING THIS ISSUE! This especially got on my nerves in chapter 37.

So yeah, this bl manhwa was one I disliked quite a bit. But just because I hated it doesn't mean you will too, so perhaps it's worth giving a shot (though I wouldn't recommend it I'm sorry I'm just still really bitter about it
