this book is the first instalment in a trilogy about the Medici family. In this first book we follow Cosimo. As his father dies he becomes the patriarche of the family, following his father steps into alliances, revenge and wars.
I read this book because I watched the show with Richard Madden, I loved the show. This book is really interesting, it provides an historical background quite accurate. The book is made of several point of views giving the reader a new view and elements on the story. There is suspense and love, the florentine background provides something more for me, all thos elements makes it a good book. The main negative point for me is that because of course the story of the Medici takes place on several decades, their story is not concentrated, we jump from year to year and it makes the story chopped rather than a whole and single elements for me. Of course the author couldn,'t change that because it' s history
