I just finished Meet me on the Bridge by Sarah J Harris audio - Narrator Nneka Okoye and here is my review.
Julia is living a mediocre life. Her boyfriend is a dud. Her job is uninspiring and her narcolepsy always happens at the worst possible times. Yet she dreams of a man, Alex. When she finds out he is a real person but he died a year ago she can't help wondering how she remembers a man she can't possibly have met yet he died on the very bridge that they had agreed to meet on in her dream...
How is that possible? When she finds out her narcolepsy is really a gift of being able to time travel, Julia cannot help but go back in time to save the man who has already stolen her heart but saving him doesn't come without consequences.
This book hit me right in the feelers and the narrator did an excellent job of bringing me into the story. You can't help but feel drawn into Julia's world. She was very young when her mother left her with her grandmother for a week and never came back. Her grandmother has Alzheimer's and her life is very much a struggle every day.
When she realizes that her condition is a way to get back to the past to fix things for herself, she cannot help it but things don't go right with every decision she makes and it's heartbreaking. Her and Alex are clearly soul mates but saving his life does devastating things not just to his life but to other people and every time she tries to go back and fix it, she makes it worse. You can feel her agony of trying to balance what she wants with how it is destroying other people lives.
The plot had a real sliding doors feel and all the elements are there. The ending had my crying my dang eyes out so be prepared for that.
This audiobook checked all the boxes and a solid 4.5 stars from me.
Thank you to @netgalley and @brilliancepublishing for my gifted audio copy.
