My Bus 4 stars
Notes: Greenwillow. Transportation
40 Jacketed Hardcover 9x9”. Ages 4-8 Preschool
Illustrations reminicent of Todd Parr. My Bus is my first Byron Barton book, although I have an ARC of My Bike sitting here waiting on me. The illustrations are simple and bright. They are full of examples the earliest artists may emulate My Bus allows reader to meet several examples transportation theme box. It is very simple and happy and includes multiple ethnicities and gender representation. Great for early readers.
My Bike
Notes: Greenwillow. Transportation
We met Joy in My Bus, and now we have Tom in My Bike. This is a great primer on a bicycle. The text is appropriate for the beginning reader. The illustrations are good interest for the toddler population and would make a fun board book. My Bike even has a cameo experience for Joe's bus! (and maybe the My Car man as well?) Continuing a transportation theme, this cyclist takes us through basic road transportation... and circus animals....... It also teaches bi, tri, and uni.

I know that this children's book was published almost a decade ago (2015), but I am shocked that images of suffering animals in tiny concrete cages or performing tricks for humans was still tolerated at this time. I would not recommend showing this to your kids.
