My edition is a paperback with an image of the boy and hawk, not just the bird.
Loved it! I can't help but compare it to the hatchet because I read that first, but this predates it by decades. Both great in their own way.
I thought this a rather odd book, but in the end we all rather enjoyed it.
A properly charming, low-key tale. I do not know if something like this would even be published today, unless the main character were supernatural.
