As a superhero origin story, this has a number of good things going for it. The first half is about a regular teenager in a city away from the usual DC haunts (based on Portland, apparently) and her wish fulfilment dreams of becoming a superhero. As a portrayal of how regular people interact with such a world it's quite good, and the supporting cast have promise. The fact that it takes several issues to get around to her receiving those powers does help here. Unfortunately, the second half is weaker, consisting largely of lengthy exposition, working in a lot of established DC continuity but not doing so in a terribly interesting way. It's also not clear where the story is going next beyond “there's a bad guy who wants to smash things”, but there's enough promise here for me to continue to follow it.
