I was REALLY REALLY looking forward to this book, and it kind of let me down a little bit. Granted, I have been let down a lot lately and none of the YA fantasy I have been trying to read has really wowed me. I skimmed this book until about 45%, and thats when I felt like the story picked up enough for me to actually be interested in this book. Honestly, until then I kept telling myself I was going to return the book and not finish it, but I am glad I didn't do that. I think that AB has a lot of potential to make the second book really good, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. If you are tired of the special snowflake trope though, this may not be the book for you....
