I was given this as a giveaway to read - The story is about Adam from 1900 to 1919 covering his childhood, firstly in the slums in Islington and then up north in the pit village of Scarsdale, and then his life in the trenches in the first world war. It is compelling and heart breaking all at the same time, I didn't want the story to end and now have to find something to match it!
