Now that was... unexpected. I found this book to be quite a different animal in comparison to other books by Tawna Fenske I have read before.
Dealing with issues like death and grief, there was always a certain level of melancholy in the background, even during scenes that made me laugh (LARPers, anyone?) and showcase Tawna Fenske's wonderfully weird sense of humor.
As for the characters, I liked Meg as a heroine, and I could understand why she acted (and reacted) the way she did. Kyle as a hero? To be honest, while he was likeable enough most of hte time, he did a couple of things that were just... crappy. Lucky for him that Meg was such a nice and forgiving person. :-p
Still, I liked the story overall, and I like Tawna Fenske's writing: 4/5 stars.
