- The author, Annie Jacobsen, takes a worst case scenario of insane actors, lack of communication, slow-to-be-made decisions and weaves them together in a nuclear war that escalates from limited to full out superpower involvement. Told in a minute by minute fashion, she ratchets up the tension as people and systems fail mankind until the inevitable ending. Informative, depressing, but compelling in the telling.
