I liked the concept of it, I liked the characters for the most part and their banter, but the characters seemed to go on and on about their circumstances. I'm also disliking how they try to martyr themselves and the need to push in tons of angst. Like if there wasn't what happened at 95%, I would have liked this book a wee bit more, especially since it's resolution was.... honestly I don't know how it was solved, the character just up and changed their mind.

Now the question is if I'll continue the series. I was reading this series to get to book 4, but recently I read some not-great reviews of it. So, do I push myself through another book to get to one I also might not like, or so I move on? Because at this point, I'm wondering why I read historical romance at all. Which is a shame to say! There are so many good things in this book and it wasn't hard to get through– it went by quickly, I just– I'm not sold on this author's storytelling, I think. I have some thinking to do.
