Holy crap, that's how you end a series! A slowly growing sense of dread following by nonstop excitement, drama, danger, wry humor, and a few twists that I never could have predicted while dealing with a unique race of aliens. While it's sweet to see Brady and Cam together, their relationship is almost an afterthought to Brady's continued emotional development, and his evolving relationship with Cam's ex-lover, Chris. I can't say I've ever seen an Ex turn into such a vital, fascinating character; Chris pretty much steals the book away from our main couple (there's a reason he's on the cover of the book I guess) and is responsible for most of the final heroics.

This was the type of book that you want to keep reading compulsively but you also want to take a break between chapters because it's so intense. Not for the faint-hearted for sure.

Kudos to Lisa Henry for making me worry more about a scrappy reffo (refugee) from a dirt-poor town than about the current COVID-19 pandemic, at least for a few hours.
