“Over in the Woodland, where the stream runs blue,
Lived a mother unicorn and her unicorns two.

‘Prance,' said the mother. ‘We prance,' said the two.
So they pranced and they played where the stream runs blue.”

Recognize the rhyme on which this book is based? It's “Over in the Meadow” and it's a lovely frame for this counting book of mythological creatures. The illustrations are luminous and surprisingly gentle, for creatures like griffins and dragons.
