I was really excited to read Parasite Life when the author kindly reached out and offered me a review copy! The plot sounded incredibly promising and I love the idea of seeing more queer rep in YA horror, so it was a no-brainer to accept the opportunity. Unfortunately, once I started reading it, it was quickly evident that the writing style and my reading tastes sadly just don't mesh. I know myself well enough to know pretty early on when a narrative voice isn't going to work for me, and in those cases, I'll often choose to DNF the book without a star rating (because, well, it's me, not you, book!) rather than risking giving the story an unfairly low rating later on, so I'm going to put this one down and say that, if it interests you, you should definitely give it a try regardless of my experience!
