She's a bridal shop owner looking for love, he's a grumpy single dad who doesn't want to fall in love again.
I should have used my college degree to become a lawyer, politician, or heck, even a Time Lord—hey, it worked for Dr. Who. But no, I had to own a bridal boutique. Turns out that’s a terrible idea for someone with my lousy dating history.
Every day, I’m surrounded by the trappings of the perfect wedding, and I’m starting to resent all the smug almost-marrieds. I shouldn’t want to throat punch the brides, right?
Then Jamie Riordan moves to Elk Lake with his twelve-year-old daughter. He’s everything I've ever wanted in a guy—tall, gorgeous, successful, and clearly devoted to his kid.
Too bad his grumpy highness wants nothing to do with me.
I may not be his dream girl, but does he have to be so insulting about letting me know?

Funny and heartwarming!
I've been looking forward to this story ever since reading Pity Date, and it didn't disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Melissa and Jamie, even though I felt a bit frustrated by his stubborn insistence to keep Melissa at arm's length and then repeatedly breaking his own rules without batting an eye (much).
But, to be honest, Sammy totally stole the show! She was my favorite character, hands down, and I loved the relationship she had with her dad and how he moved heaven and earth - or, okay, the two of them to Elk Lake - to give his daughter a fresh start after a traumatic experience.
Looking forward to Paige's story next!
Strong Hallmarkie Romance, Kid Nearly Steals Show. This is a sunshine/ grumpy romance that also features a single parent, and this is one where the child very nearly steals the book with the focus on her and her antics. Which is normally not my thing, but it works in this particular case. There's also a "friends with benefits" / "situationship" thing going on, but all "action" is behind closed doors - so be warned, whichever direction you may fall on those issues. Overall this is another small town, hallmarkie style romance, and it absolutely works within that mold. Very much recommended.
