Play Your Heart Out isn't just a typical rock star romance. It's a story about broken hearts.

Pete is Sinful Serenade's bassist, he's intense, not much of a talker, he has a tendency to pretend that everything is fine while he hides his feelings from everyone, even from his brother Tom. His high school girlfriend cheated on him with one of his closest friends and since he found out, he's been banging his way through LA. Now, Pete needs to clean up his reputation to please the record company and Jess is exactly the girl he needs to help him.

Jess is a good girl, a huge Hunger Games fan, she got into law school but even though she's working hard as a waitress and applying for loans, she's not going to be able to pay for it. Jess is also nursing a broken heart after her boyfriend cheated on her.

As soon as Pete meets Jess, he knows she's perfect to play his fake girlfriend and since Jess desperately needs help to pay her tuition, he persuades her that it's a win-win situation.

But they didn't quite expect an explosive chemistry and such a strong connection. There are plenty of bittersweet moments while Jess struggles with lying to Pete's family, bandmates and their girlfriends and they both struggle to keep their hearts safe. Their group moments are perfect and Miles mind games are, as usual, hilarious!

I've read the previous books in SS series, so I've been waiting for Pete's story eagerly and I think my expectations were a little too high. Don't get me wrong, I definitely enjoyed it but I really wanted more from Pete, wanted more of his feelings, his struggles, I wish Crystal dug a little deeper. Well, honestly, Drew is still my favorite! I'm really excited about Sinful Ever After (yes, there's a 5th book!) and I'm thrilled that Crystal Kaswell is doing a spin-off with Dangerous Noise, Drew's first band!
