TW: rape, women dying in childbirth

Only took me an extra day after book club to finish!

I don't have strong feelings on this one; in fact, my feelings in general kind of waned since the last time I read it. I enjoyed the writing overall, it was a page-turner, though I thought some of the descriptions went on for too long; there were a few too many coincidences for my liking, and the love story (and the way it developed) was ... not great.

Interesting how the Church has changed in the intervening centuries, though.
