I like the material. However, I don't like the presentation. I wish the author emphasized the points she made, rather than the research she did. I felt worn down by the steady drumbeat of “in a recent research study, ...” and eventually put the book down.
Some really interesting insights in this book about the correlation between our physical posture and confidence (increasing Testosterone by 20% and reducing Cortisol by 20%).
“Presence stems from believing our own stories. When we don't believe our stories, we are inauthentic—we are deceiving, in a way, both ourselves and others.”
Rather than reading the book, I'd recommend to watch the TED talk by the author. While the first few chapters about presence are interesting, there is not much content in there. The last few chapters are basically the TED talk repeated. The whole book was filled with references to the TED talk and e-mails by viewers and how it helped them. Having watched the TED talk and having read a few books on the topic, there weren't many additional things to be learnt rather than acting as a reminder.
