If you're a fan of Sherlock Holmes you'll probably like this one, it even has a somewhat autistic coded character.
The story is told in a mix of letters and journal entries, and all the characters have generally similar writing style, but still managed to create a sense of urgency, darkness and moral morosity and it certainly pulled no punches. I really didn't expect this one to get as graphic and brutal as it did, I don't think the graphic aspect of it was gratuitous though so don't let that put you off it's not a gross-out fest for the sake of it.
I particularly enjoyed that through the interwoven narratives there was the main mystery side of things and one which was straight up horror, that part is really what kept me engaged till the end.
Many thanks to the author for providing me a review copy.
