Probably Still the Chosen One

Through a cupboard under the sink is a portal to another world, although it is controlled from their side. Corrina is told she is the chosen one (“She was barefoot and filthy and was likely leaving foot-shaped stains on the floor from the juice of an unknown berry, oozing now off her feet. She was eleven years old. The High Priest told her this was the normal age for a Chosen One.”), and is asked to remain here (in the kitchen) until they come back to get her.
This was on her return, after spending a year in Nibiru, where she learned all sorts of things, like swordsmanship. But for years, they don't return.

This was a fun, quick read.
