Ahh, where to start with this book?! I don't think I would have given this book a second glance if I'd come across it in a bookstore. As it is, it was available as an option on the Pigeonhole app and the concept fascinated me, so I signed up for it and let me tell you, I am so glad I did!!!
It was brilliantly written with thought provoking content, whilst being hilariously funny at the same time. You might wonder how that could be possible, but Kate manages that brilliantly, leaving you pondering something one minute and laughing out loud the next! Honestly, the humour and puns used in this book are ace!
Same could be said about the characters from Eve, to Helena and Womble, to Magnus, to Duncan and even Simon! They were utterly likeable characters and I fell in love with them. I honestly felt sad saying goodbye to Eve and co., and as I mentioned to Kate herself I'm really hoping there's a sequel to this book. I would totally read it (a view shared by my fellow PH readers!).
The book itself tackles the fascinating concept of turning people purple for anti social behaviour. As you read, it raises interesting questions and makes you wonder if it's a good idea? Does everyone who commits an anti social crime deserve to be turned purple? Does the punishment fit the crime? Is it a breach of human rights? These are serious questions, but Kate's use of humour makes the book well balanced allowing the book to be thought provoking, whilst being lighthearted at the same time.
I honestly loved it and can't speak highly enough about it! I would highly recommend it and if I could have given it more than a 5* rating, I would have.
Thank you to PH and Kate Bulpitt for the chance to read this book and to my fellow Pigeonholers for making it an entertaining read!
