Another strong entry in the series. This time Kate is racing against the clock to find a missing child in addition to solving a murder, and running up against some very closely-held secrets among the most strict Amish sect in her jurisdiction. The case is not black and white; actions were taken to set the crime in motion that were done with good intentions (and we know which road is paved with those). So even as you are hoping Kate finds the culprit, you can't help feeling at least a smidge of compassion for the bad guy and anger at the good guys.
Tomasetti is there to help with the case and support Kate. I would have liked to see more of their personal lives together, but it doesn't really fit in with a book where every hour counts and there is no downtime to speak of.
Nothing says summer like a murder in Amish country, and I'll look forward to the series reaching a dozen books in July 2020.
