I read this via audio and considering my very bad losing streak with audio books, I genuinely liked this! Considering I don't like contemporary romances either is most likely where this rating comes from, partly. The characters were meh to me, they did have depth but in the “I'm broken” type way if that makes sense. The plot is what hooked me, I loved the twist which is ultimately why I'm listening to second book immediately.
