It's hard to review a book like this. It is hard to read. Not only because of chapters like ‘OIF' where there are so many acronyms I don't know it just read like nonsense, but because this kind of experience is completely foreign to me. It was heartwrenchingly painful to imagine what every single soldier goes through during their active duty and their civilian life. Despite it being fiction it reads wholly like real life experiences and I wonder how much Klay just pulled out from his own service.
