This was a simple, quick read with good characters.
It was a bit of a mixed bag for me with several sections that were tense and well written, and others that felt somewhat amateurish. I don't mean that as an insult to the author, but more of an indication of sections that pulled me out of the story because of a writing style that seemed to change in quality. More often than not during dialogue or an overuse of metaphors that made it feel like I was being spoon fed. I did note however that these occured more often earlier in the book.
Then there were other sections that were so gloriously descriptive and gruesome that had me feeling everything.
Overall this fell short of being great and was more of a popcorn read for me.
I am a fan of vampires, werewolves, all that magic stuff and to read a book where i got more then what i was expecting being honest...i loved it !! It had me hooked wanting to keep reading and finding out what was happening although when the events were happening i kinda had an idea not sure if that's just how good i am (just kidding) or it was suppose to be like that. I also did have times where i was wrong probably twice but its a series so who knows maybe something can happen in the future as i read right. If that makes sense.
Anyways, I love when i read a good book. It means it has all the good bits; good plot, well written, not wanting to put it down, staying late at night reading, etc. See it has all the good qualities for a 5 star book. The thing is that it had some typos and for some reason I strongly dislike seeing errors on books. It can be a sentence or a word it doesn't matter to me.
Besides that...I was satisfied with this first book of many. Good ending because it ended right on good timing. It didn't leave me hanging because I knew what was happening at the end and had an idea of what will happen next. (sorry no spoilers) It had my imagination running and I love when it happens while im reading, it makes it better as i imagine everything that is happening and really feeling like im there. and WOWW there were some amazing scenes that i would love to really see and experience other than my mind cries I was also able to connect and understand the characters I am excited to read Refuge, second book of the series.
At the end I give this a 4.5☆☆☆☆☆ GO READ IT !!
