Rivals is the third book in the American Royals series. It's a YA series set in modern day, but in an alternate universe where George Washington choose to be a King, instead of a President. And the Royals in this series are his descendants.
The first few chapters recap what happened in the previous books, which I apprieciated. It's been awhile since I read this series and didn't do a reread before my library hold came in.
Anywho...then it gets right into the drama! I love drama when it's not mine haha. Some thoughts that I hope aren't too spoilery. Beatrice was kinda needy. I knew the answer to Samantha's problem. I wish we had some chapters with Jefferson's POV. Daphine actually has feelings but then she turns back into a cold bitch. Nina and Jeff just need to communicate and that would solve most of their problems.
I'm excited a fourth book is coming out next year!
these books are such cotton candy. like I read it all in one day and it immediately dissolved. I feel like this one simultaneously answered some worldbuilding questions posed by the first two books and yet also had some real cardboard character moments.
and I'm furious that it ends on a cliffhanger?? now i gotta read a 4th one of these??? i definitely will read the 4th one though.
