Jack St. Bride adalah guru dan pelatih sepak bola di sekolah khusus putri, hingga tuduhan penyerangan seksual terlontar dan membuat Jack harus dipenjara dan kehilangan segalanya. Kini dalam usaha memulai hidup barunya, Jack pindah ke kota kecil Salem Falls.
Di Salem Falls, Jack bertemu dengan Addie Peabody dan bekerja sebagai pencuci piring di restoran milik wanita itu. Perlahan-lahan hubungan yang lebih akrab pun terbentuk antara mereka. Ketika Jack merasa hidupnya sudah membaik, sekelompok remaja putri penggemar ilmu tenung membuat dunia Jack kacau-balau dengan tuduhan yang sama.
Kisahnya cukup mengharukan, dgn cepat aku bersimpati pada Jack & bagaimana kehidupan memperlakukannya dgn keras. Sayang di akhir tdk diungkapkan air mani siapa sebenarnya yg ada di paha Gilly. Jawabannya hanya pembaca yg diberi tahu.
One of her more predictable books. Would love to read a “departure” book from Jodi. I know that she has it in her!
