There’s A Reason I Never Go To Parties... I saw him in a cloud of smoke, like sin made flesh. Even bruised and battered, I’d never seen anything more beautiful... Unless I hate myself, I should stay far away from Nero. He’s a heartbreaker. A mess-maker. A walking disaster. Here’s the problem: I’m in deep trouble with a dirty cop. The only person who can save me is Nero. We’re not friends. If he saw me drowning, he’d throw me an anchor. But he’s the only chance I’ve got. He’s no hero, he’s a Savage Lover.

I don't know how I managed to get through 50% of a book without anything happening. The ending did make up for it. Despite nothing happening, I was kinda entertained and I don't know why. I do love Sophie's writing, that might be it
A bit conflicted about how to review this. The storyline was good, it felt almost real and there wasn't much cliche of cringeworthy stuff in it as there is in usual mafia related books. I liked that there was no exaggeration, no dragging, no unnecessary drama. I appreciated that the male MC knew what he wanted from the female MC, knew that his feelings were real and acted on it. I liked that the smut wasnt prolonged or felt too unnatural, except maybe the mention of eight inches.
However, i was unable to enjoy it as i normally do with romance books. I cant point my finger at it but it just didnt feel the same to me.

Sophie Lark herself that she thinks this is the weakest in her series but it's been my favourite so far!
I love the relationship between Nero and Camille, how much they connect and relate to each other, its much deeper than the previous two couples.
I'm trying, y'all. I'm trying to get into these Mafia Romances but I didn't realize how many were set in Chicago and I can't get passed that no matter how much you say “I've lived in Chicago all my life”, they don't speak or move Chicago.
As far as the story. It was alright. Nero spent half the book getting beat up. Show me his ruthless side in that. Nero and Camille, intense. I liked that she was a good girl. Wish she would have stayed that way because we are not all negative products of the fuckery that happens in our lives.
