Save a Truck, Ride a Redneck

After reading the first book and learning of Marianne's marriage, I was very excited upon learning there was a book about her!
I really wanted more of the romance between her and Carl though... there wasn't much there except for them liking each other in the past and that Carl still looks awesome. Yeah, I could have gone for more than that.

The thing is these books don't read like romances – one because the romance is so background and barely built, but also because it focuses on the main character's life, which would make this ‘women's fic' or... just a contemporary with romance subtleties.
So, I don't really like women's fic, I don't think. I always go into excepting a romance, but I do think I liked this one more than the first book in the series, because Marianne is so likeable and she's so confused about where her life is going. She read like a college student for the most part and I loved that.

I just wish that when there is romance that it would be built better – have them talk and grow on each other again.... even if it is a novella :)
