Save Her Twice (Detective Morgan Brookes Book 11)
A completely unputdownable mystery and suspense thriller
by Helen Phife and here are my thoughts.
First thing is first... I have not read any of the other books in the series but it stands up perfectly well as a standalone so don't let that fact this is book 11, stop you from emerging yourself in this work of art.
Morgan Brookes hasn't had it easy and tracking a killer who is targeting survivors of other serial killers was a nice way to be introduced to such a well written character. It makes it even better when we find out Morgan knows the missing girl Lexi and that she was part of a final girls support group, making any one in that group a target.
I love how well this book was written and it didn't pull any punches when it came to the details. It was pretty graphic and it added to the atmosphere of the book. We get this book mostly Morgan's POV but the author has a clever way of writing and we get little glimpses of the killers POV and some of the girls. It was very well done.
If you are in the mood for a shockingly intense read that is excellently paced, grab this one. The book was dark without being overpoweringly so with some excellent twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat. I didn't take a break in reading because I was physically unable to put the book down.
Might be one of the best thrillers I have read in ages.
4.5 stars! Genius writing.
